Pack of wolves

My small contribution to expressing the feelings of women who suffered such plight. More power to the women who started this movement and gave strength to the others to open up and share. In a road less traveled, we meet yet again, there are memories that we cherish, but also, lots of pain. As I sit with you today, reflecting on my past Oh Life! Let’s drink to my broken heart and sad endings so rife. You saw me as a kid, filled with hopes and dreams; turn into a woman, with sorrows, wounds and screams. My lips though may smile; my eyes are but so bleak there are some questions in them, the answers do I seek. You said, the world is yours, go find your happy place, find your own people to love, in this infinite space. They, who shall bring you happiness, joy and mirth, who will make your life, worth living on this earth. Your words gave me the wings and I was flying high, to a place that’s filled with love, where my happiness would lie. I met people on my way; they ma...

Where CRY means smiles :)

It was the end of November and it was ‘that time’ of the year. Every year I would save up all my holidays for my annual visit to my home country, India. As expected, I had a full agenda during my visit. Meet all the relatives, eat street food everyday, attend a friend’s wedding and do lots of shopping, the regular roster. This year however, I had another item in my to-do list. Ever since I started working for CRY in Seattle and learnt that they have a project in my home state Chhattisgarh, I had made up my mind to visit the project, the next time I went to India and now was the time. I was really looking forward to the visit! So having coordinated all the plan with my friends at CRY, I was all set-up to visit Gram Mitra Samaj Sevi Sanstha (GMSSS) project in Kartala block of Korba district in Chhattisgarh, Here is what I expected my day would look like and how it actually turned out to be EXPECTATION REALITY Leave the origin ...

Young India and the social change it can drive

When most countries in the world are experiencing ageing problem, India is lush with about 65% of its population below 35 years of age. The youth in India has emerged to be a great force marking its presence in politics, economy, science, civil services and many such important avenues. I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said that there could never be a better time to be ‘young’ in India. People could write at lengths about the positive changes that the Young India engenders but still there are some important avenues that need our immediate attention. If Wikipedia were to be believed, India’s charity index ranks 91 st in the list of 140 countries and the United States of America, 2 nd . The list of most Philanthropic people in the world starts with Bill Gates, an American, and features many more like Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg etc. There does appear an Indian in the list, Azim Premji ranked at no. 4, just one Indian in the list of twenty. India never lacked rich people; still ...

The day the earth stood still

January 29, 2017 will go down in the history as the day that marked a fierce competition between two super humans, and one of them, with a slight edge over other, rise to the occasion and clinch a grand slam title after seven long years. The most coveted Fedal match was on and the whole world seemed to be emotionally invested into it. Expectedly so, the match turned out to be full of ebbs and tides of emotions. With every point made, every serve break, there was a small fan inside us that just became exhilarated with joy or just worried a little more. We saw some of the most beautiful and unhuman (for the lack of better word) shots in the match. There were times where you would start doubting, are these men for real? Finally after a marathon 3.5 hours, it was Roger Federer who tasted the sweet victory and claimed his 18 th Grand Slam. What a match!! Being a huge Federer fan myself, it took me a while to sync in the fact that we witnessed what we BEL18VED in and after sever...
